CREATIVE RETREATS

Escape to the French countryside for a creative weekend, with two or three hands-on workshops included. Perfect for a relaxed bachelorette getaway, a team-building retreat, or simply an unforgettable weekend with friends or family. Learn to make natural soap, weave macramé, craft your own wooden serving board, and more. Return home with unique handmade creations, new skills, and lasting memories.

Open all year round, Maison La Lanterne offers something special in every season.

The Lanterne river is just 50 metres from the house, perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding or fishing. We provide two kayaks free of charge so you can make the most of your time by the water.

When the days grow colder, settle in beside the fireplace and enjoy the peaceful countryside views from the warmth of the house.

A traditional wood-fired Nordic hot tub is planned for 2027, adding another way to unwind and reconnect with nature.

WHAT TO DO

Franche-Comté remains one of France's quieter, less-discovered regions, where rolling countryside, charming villages, local markets and unexpected treasures await, far from the busiest tourist routes.

Spend your days exploring the surrounding area, visiting picturesque towns, discovering local food and markets, or simply following the road to see where it takes you.

We've gathered our favourite places - many of them hidden gems you won't find in the guidebooks - and we're always happy to help you plan your perfect day out.

A place to slow down

Maison La Lanterne may not be the right choice if you're looking for lively nightlife, bars and restaurants just around the corner. Our village is peaceful and rural, and having a car is essential.

But if you dream of slowing down, spending time in nature, enjoying simple pleasures and reconnecting with the people you love, you might just feel at home here.

Come for the countryside, the river and the quiet. Stay for the long meals, the cosy evenings by the fire and the feeling of having nowhere else you need to be.

OUR STORY

We are Eliza & Michael, and the story of Maison La Lanterne began in 2021 when we fell in love with this beautiful house, its stunning views, and the charm of Franche-Comté. We left city life behind to create a retreat to slow down, recharge, and discover this unspoilt corner of France.

With backgrounds in creative fields, we've designed an eclectic interior filled with furniture we've made or lovingly restored ourselves. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, from using natural materials to supporting local producers and encouraging environmentally friendly living.

Follow us on Instagram to see our latest renovation projects, discover our favourite local spots, and get a glimpse of our life in the French countryside.

Kids

We've created different spaces so everyone can enjoy their stay in their own way. A welcoming place to gather over good meals, a quiet corner to read or unwind, a sunny terrace for a morning coffee, and a garden where children can play freely.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

BARBARA

It was fantastically beautiful; we felt right at home. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. There were lots of games to keep us busy. The property is very nicely located by the river and invites you to swim. A quiet, feel-good oasis.

CLOÉ

The house, both inside and outside, is tastefully decorated. It is warm, perfectly equipped and ideal for spending pleasant moments with friends and family, even with young children. A peaceful place, conducive to disconnecting and the pleasure of meeting up!

STEPHAN

The nearby river was a highlight, it is ideal for cooling off and  exploring with SUP and kayaks. The garden invites you to relax.  The house feels like a cozy home away from home. The hosts were also great, always helpful, friendly and open-minded.
